A Common Vision Meeting was held with the participation of representatives of different institutions, organisations and NGOs within the scope of Kocaeli Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP). In the meeting, the vision statements created as a result of the previous thematic workshops were voted and the Common Vision of Kocaeli was determined.

The Common Vision Meeting was the next step after the Thematic Workshops, which were held within the scope of Kocaeli Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and based on the participatory process in planning. Held on 14 June 2023 at Kocaeli Congress Center, the meeting was attended by many different institutions, organisations and NGOs.

Ahmet Çelebi, Head of Transportation Department of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, made the opening speech of the project at the meeting and conveyed the general objectives of the project and expectations from the project.

Then, Philippe Calvie, the team leader of the project, emphasised the importance of the project and the participatory process and explained the next stages after the common vision was determined.

In the presentations made by the project experts, detailed information about the project and the participation process was given. Project coordinator Ms. Melike Sarım Boynuyoğun gave information about the activities carried out during the 10-month project period, while communication and participation expert Mr. Murat Çağatay presented the results of 12 thematic workshops.

At the stage of determining the common vision, 15 words that were emphasised the most as a result of the thematic workshops and 3 different vision sentences created with these words were put forward. With the voting of 150 people, the 3rd vision sentence was chosen by the stakeholders and citizens as the Common Vision of Kocaeli.
